I have been looking forward to today for awhile. Miss Debby, one of my sweet technicians at work informed me that she would be participating in a chili cook off that would benefit the Special Olympics. She is an amazing cook, and all proceeds would benefit the Special Olympics of Greater Memphis.
The first time I remember attending a Special Olympics event was in middle school. I was 11 years old and I attended with my sister Janice’s class. Janice always participated in track and field events. She put all her effort into it and relished in the ribbons she received no matter what she placed. I cannot explain how important I think the Special Olympics are for the individuals who compete.
This particular event included a chili cook off in which teams competed with their best chili recipes and salsa recipes as well. The day also included a polar plunge in which teams plunged into the Mississippi River all to benefit the Special Olympics. We had a beautiful day and I had a wonderful time!
Me and my dear husband sampled several types of chili, all of which were delicious!! I got to have my photo taken with several olympics participants and chili cooks and it was amazing!!
To make the day even sweeter, my friend Debby won first place for her amazing chili and salsa!! Way to go Miss Debby! You are one talented lady ❤
I had a wonderful time and I thank everyone who came out to support the Special Olympics of Greater Memphis.
