My name is Stephanie Turner, and I am honored to represent the great state of Tennessee in the upcoming Mrs. International Pageant. I’d be thrilled if you’d follow my journey as I prepare to compete in my first pageant, and support and represent a cause very dear to my heart-Advocacy and Inclusion for Adults with Intellectual disabilities.
I am very passionate about this cause, in part because of a very special person in my life, my sweet little sister Janice. She was born with Down Syndrome, and she helped make me who I am today. I am forever grateful for the experience of growing up with her and having her as a sister.
Adults with intellectual disabilities have the right to live as independently as possible, hold jobs, get an education, be contributing members of their community, and to live full and fulfilling lives. Through advocation and education, organizations like The Arc can make this possible.
I will be supporting this cause by promoting the work done by The Arc, and tutoring adults with intellectual disabilities who are working towards obtaining their GED in order to obtain jobs or to further their education.
