I recently made a video to educate the public and to show my support for the ABLE Act. I had a lot of fun doing it and I know it’s not perfect, but I did it ALL myself. The NDSS did help me with verbiage and for that I am so grateful! Then, I recorded the video and edited it myself. I have some work to do, but I’m pretty proud of my first video for my platform. I am thrilled that I can reach an even wider audience to spread the message about advocacy and inclusion. Together we can make the lives of those living with intellectual disabilities the best life possible.
I was recently asked to be a guest judge at our American Heart Association’s first ever Hemline for Hearts event. The event brought in local fashion designers who were asked to create an original red dress in 3 hours. The catch was that the dresses had to be made entirely of red paper hearts! When I arrived, I was amazed at the creativity!
After viewing and learning a bit about each of the designs, the judges chose a winner!
The winner was so happy and her win was so deserved! All of the designs were so amazing though. I am so glad I got to be a part of this new event! I hope that our American Heart Association chapters continues this event for years to come. This event was a fun way to bring awareness to the Go Red for Women movement and our AHA chapter of Greater Memphis. I was very proud to be a part of it and so honored to be a guest judge.
